Ryan Haviland

- Over 35 years playing competitive tennis and coaching full-time since 2005.
- Grew up in Columbia and Sumter and played the SC junior tournament circuit for 12 years.
- In juniors ranked #1 in SC in singles and doubles (including winning Belton multiple times in singles and doubles), #1 in the South in singles and doubles (including winning Southerns in singles and doubles), and ranked as high as #3 in the nation in singles and #6 in the nation in doubles in the USTA boys 18’s rankings (at the age of 17).
- Two time member of Team USA and traveled to various parts of the world representing the US. Team USA teammates included Andy Roddick, James Blake, Taylor Dent, Mardy Fish, Alex Bogomolov Jr., and Robby Ginepri. Also competed multiple times in prestigious international junior tournaments such as the Orange Bowl, the Eddie Herr, the Italian Open, and the Sugar Bowl (where he defeated David Nalbandian, who had just won the Jr US Open one week earlier).
- Accepted a full-ride tennis scholarship to Stanford University, which ranked #1 in the country and had just won 4 consecutive NCAA championships. (Stanford men’s tennis has won a record 17 NCAA titles in all).
- At Stanford, played as high as #1 singles and #1 doubles, became a first team All-American, made the semi-finals of the NCAA singles tournament, ranked #3 in the nation in doubles with K.j. Hippensteel, won a team national championship, helped the team achieve a #1 national ranking at some point during all four years, practiced doubles with the world #1 ranked Bryan twins on multiple occasions, and was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Team multiple times for maintaining above a 3.5 GPA.
- After graduating from Stanford a quarter early, turned pro and in 3 months on tour achieved an ATP singles ranking of #516 and a doubles ranking of #307. Won 5 Futures doubles titles and picked up a 6-2, 6-1 singles win over the reigning NCAA singles champion, Amer Delic (ATP #60), just ten days after he won the NCAA title. Subsequently, in 2004 was named a member of the Team USA Rookie Pro Team.
- Injuries and a series of 11 different surgeries put a halt to pro career, although in 2014 he resumed playing on the ATP Tour and is the only coach in SC, and one of only a handful in the U.S., that holds a current ATP pro singles ranking. Due to this he also currently holds an NTRP rating of 7.0. Additionally, he has posted recent tournament wins over Nathan Pasha (#1 for University of Georgia), Guillermo Nunez (the #10 ITF ranked junior in the world in 2013), Eric Quigley (#1 for Kentucky, All-American, and 2012 NCAA singles finalist, ATP #297), Quentin Monagan (#1 for Notre Dame, All-American, and a 2015 NCAA singles semi-finalist), Stefan Kozlov (the #2 junior player in the world in 2014 and ATP #154), Alex Rybkov (the #1 player in the class of 2015), Connor Smith (ATP #200), Nicolas Meister (ATP #198), Ronnie Schneider (#1 on tennisrecruiting.net for class of 2013, and All-American in singles for UNC), Michael Mmoh (#2 ITF junior in the world in 2015 and ATP #317), Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (2017 NCAA singles champion), and Damir Dzumhur (ATP #23), while playing on the ATP tour in 2015-2017.
- UTR rating of 15 in 2018, and one of only a handful of coaches in the world ranked in singles on the ATP Tour in 2024.
- Prior to opening Haviland Tennis Academy, Ryan directed the Embassy Suites Advanced Tennis Program (which was designed as a recreational program that only offered only 4 hours of clinics a week and no tournament coaching) for 3.5 years. In that time, 14 of his students went on to play college tennis and many received athletic scholarships.
Ashley Hewitt

- Reached the second round of Junior Wimbledon in 2009 and 2010.
- Junior French Open singles quarterfinalist in 2010.
- Ranked as the #62 junior tennis player in the world in 2010 in the boys 18’s.
- Won his first professional singles title at a Futures event in England in 2013 at the age of 21, and then won his first professional doubles title at a Futures in Belgium in 2013.
- Won his second professional singles title at the Futures in Buffalo, NY in 2014.Made the singles finals of 6 other Futures events from 2012-2014 and achieved an ATP singles ranking of 355 in singles and 746 in doubles by age 21.
- On the ATP Tour in 2014 had singles wins over the #1 ranked boys 18 and under player in the USA and the 18’s Kalamazoo singles champion (Collin Altamirano), the NCAA singles finalist (Alexander Sarkissian), the #1 player for the University of Southern California in 2013 (Daniel Nguyen), which also won the NCAA team championship that year, the current #1 player for Duke (Jason Tahir), and the #1 player for Duke in 2013 (Henrique Cunha, the #1 ranked college player in the country, a 4 time All-American, and the most decorated player in Duke tennis history).
- Also had notable wins over Dominic Thiem (ATP #36) at the Junior French Open in 2010, as well as Borna Coric (ATP #85, and the #1 junior player in the world in 2013) at a Futures event in 2013, and Marco Cecchinato (ATP #27 and 2018 French Open Semifinalist) at a Futures in 2014.
- Served as a practice partner for Jurgen Melzer, Robin Soderling, Thomas Berdych, Rafael Nadal, and was flown to Dubai, all expenses paid, to serve as Roger Federer’s private practice partner for two weeks at his home training base in the UAE (including being personally chauffeured around by Roger in his Ferrari!) .
- Still holds a current ranking in both singles and doubles on the ATP Tour.
- Began his coaching career fall of 2014 at the Bolton International High

- Born and raised in Memphis, TN.
- Played in the Southern section all through junior career. Top 20 ranked player in south from 12s-18s. Highest ranking in 18s was #3 in the south and top 100 in the nation.
- Played one year of college tennis at the University of Memphis (2013).
